DVD, 7 minutes
The Wolfsonian–FIU

Abeceda (2000) recreates the Liberated Theater’s performance of Abeceda using the 1926 publication as its visual guide. The choreography and declamation are based on the directions for reading lines and movement outlined in the journal, ReD (v. 2, no. 7), from April 1928.

Abeceda was produced by The Wolfsonian–FIU for its exhibition Dreams and Disillusions: Karel Teige and the Czech Avant-Garde (2000–2001) in collaboration with Dr. Eric Dluhosch and the following Miami-based artists and designers: Professor David Burnett (technical advice), Dr. Jiøí Lamberk (narration), Renata by IOR (costume design), Barron Sherer (sound), Trapezoid (digital production), and Elaine Wright (dance/choreography).
